Code of Behaviour

We do everything we can to ensure that Doosport is a safe, useful and fun place to visit and we hope you will too. Not only do we promise to use any personal information you've trusted us with responsibly (see Privacy Policy) but we also make sure that any content we post on the site is of the highest quality. We monitor user-generated content closely too.

However, Doosport is a community and responsibility for what's on the site rests with us all. You provide lots of content so please think about what you post, what you write and how you communicate with others on Doosport.

Staying Safe Online

We do what we can to provide a safe and secure environment for all our users. That means using the latest software to protect your privacy and keep your details secure as well as many other precautions.

However, please remember that you are also responsible for your own safety. We recommend you take the following steps. If in doubt about any of them, please contact us.

  1. Please change your password once you have signed up and are logged into the site. We suggest using a combination of letters and numbers when you create a new password.
Do not tell anyone else your password and if you must write it down, don't include a description next to it. (e.g. Soccer91 Doosport Password – don't forget).
Try including it in a list of random words. That way, even if someone does find the list, they won't know what the words refer to.
  2. When you join, make sure your privacy settings are at the right level.
We recommend keeping the default settings – that is:
    • Only friends can see your name
    • All contact information including address, phone number and email address as well as your events calendar are kept private
  3. Think before giving out contact details online. That includes posting pictures or videos which show where you live or places you regularly go, like your gym or your football club.
You should also think twice about posting pictures of your friends without asking them first, particularly if they are embarrassing. Remember too that other users could try and use your content in inappropriate ways. They might copy your pictures and post them elsewhere on the internet, for example, or change your photos using image editing software like Photoshop or PaintShop Pro. So have a think before you post.
  4. Think too about meeting people in the physical world that you've met on Doosport.
A good rule to follow is this: if you know at least one of the people listed in someone's 'Friends' personally, you'll be able to easily check that you're not putting yourself at risk.
If you don't know any of their 'Friends' and have no way of checking who they are but you're still happy to meet them, make sure you do so in a public place and tell others where you're going and when you'll be back.
  5. Check your 'Friends' list regularly. If other users who say they are your friends are behaving in an unfriendly way – making you feel uncomfortable, posting things you don't like on your profile page, bullying you or making you do things you don't want to – just click the 'Break Friends' button next to their listing.
  6. If you're having difficulty with someone else and what they're doing on the site or you think something strange is going on – like someone else is using your account without your authorisation – please contact us immediately here. There are also links on your profile page and on Contact Us.
  7. If you are over 13 (all users must be over 13) and under 18, you need to get the consent of a parent or guardian before registering on the site.

Stay safe, keep others safe

If you behave responsibly, then you'll help make the site a safe and fun place for all our users. That means:

  1. Think before you post your content – videos, photos, even text. Our youngest users are 13 so use that as a benchmark when you're uploading. Would it offend them? Might they be upset?
It's sometimes easy to forget that what one person thinks of as intimidating behaviour is water off a duck's back to someone else. So if in doubt, hold back.
  2. Do not post insulting, obscene, blasphemous, defamatory, offensive or sexually explicit content on the site. If we find it, we will delete it and we will terminate your account in order to protect the Doosport community. We may also take other action, including working with the police and other agencies if necessary.
  3. Respect the views and opinions of others on the site. Respect their actions too. For example, if someone says they don't want to hear from you, please do not contact them again.
  4. If you're a coach or a therapist, or you run a sports venue like a gym or a club, and you're offering a service to other users, please make sure you agree to and follow our Terms and Conditions before you advertise.

If you'd like to find out more about how to stay safe online, why not have a look at one of these sites. They're all independent and well-respected sources so you can definitely trust them.

If you're concerned about what your child is doing online, have a look at this tutorial (PDF). There's an idea for an informal 'Web contract' between parents and kids which could be a useful starting point.
