About Me
Wendy is a Dietitian registered with the Health Professions Council and a Registered Sport and Exercise Nutritionist. She is currently the Consultant Sports Nutritionist for the British Olympic Association (BOA) and British Gymnastics. She also provides sports nutrition consultancy to GB rowing and combines her work in sport with her role as a part-time Clinical Nutrition Service Manager in the National Health Service (NHS).
Wendy graduated from Kings College, London in 1987 with a Degree in Nutrition and a Diploma in Dietetics and started her career within the NHS. She has worked in both clinical and managerial roles in several London teaching hospitals including Kings Healthcare NHS Trust, Guy's and St Thomas Hospital NHS Trust and the Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare NHS Trust. Her current part-time role as the clinical nutrition service manager is based at the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust.
Since developing a career in sports nutrition, Wendy has worked with a wide variety of different athletes. She was the Sports Nutritionist with World Class Hockey for 4 years and the English National Ballet school for 3 years; she worked a season with West Ham United FC; she consulted with the England Football Squad in preparation for the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004. She also worked with a team who completed the Woodvale Transatlantic Rowing Race in 2005.
Wendy has had the opportunity to work with elite athletes abroad and was the BOA HQ Sports Nutritionist during the 2008 Olympic Games. She was initially based at the holding camp in Macau supporting athletes in their final preparations and then moved to Beijing during the Games supporting rowing, canoeing and open water swimming during their competition phase. She also worked as the HQ Nutritionist at the Barcelona holding camp prior to the Athens Olympics 2004.
Since 2005 she has provided sports nutrition consultancy to GB rowing, regularly travelling abroad with them on training camps and for World Championship Regattas.
Wendy has also done some television and radio media work including an ITV piece on the 2007 Tour de France and a BBC piece on the nutritional preparation at the Macau holding camp for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In 2006 she worked as the consultant sports nutritionist for the Channel 4 program 'The Games.'
For over 2 years she was consultant dietitian and sports nutritionist for the Lucozade sports science academy (LSSA) writing articles on sports nutrition for sport and fitness publications and presenting at meetings and conventions.
She has worked with many other athletes in sports including triathlon, marathon running, squash, swimming, rugby, cycling, Formula 1 and Formula 3 racing, sailing, adventure racing and winter sports.
Wendy is also a qualified group exercise instructor with over 19 years teaching experience in the fitness industry. She teaches a variety of classes for the Cannons group in central London.
